WCM Montreal Presents: Networking with Finance Professionals

Join WCM Montreal for a virtual discussion to hear from buy-side and sell-side professionals about what a day in their job really looks like.

The event will feature 5 breakout rooms covering different areas of finance. Each breakout room leader will provide an overview of their industry, speak about their role and experiences, and answer any questions you may have. Students will be assigned to smaller breakout rooms and rotate amongst the professionals.

This session will bring together junior- mid-level professionals from a variety of areas in finance to provide some background and insight into their roles within the industry.

This will be a bilingual event.

*This event is designed for students enrolled in graduate or undergraduate programs who are interested in pursuing a career in finance.

Speakers

Mohamed Chibane

Fixed Income Trader

Mohamed comes to us from Desjardins Capital Markets where we works as a fixed income trader with a focus on Canadian Government Bonds. He previously worked at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec as a quantitative analyst for the corporate credit portfolio. Mohamed holds a M.Sc. in Mathematical and Computational Finance from the Université de Montréal and a B.Sc. in Actuarial Science from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).

Laurence Morin

Corporate and Government Solutions | CIBC

Laurence completed an internship in Investment Banking (DCM) and Institutional Derivative and Fixed Income Sales prior to joining the industry full time. She graduated from McGill University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance. Laurence attended a "Sports and Study" High School in Montreal in order to ski race, and is an avid skier and water skier. In her spare time, Laurence enjoys travelling, hiking, mountain biking, surfing and kite surfing; and is a big fan of poutine.

Kristin Ellerbeck

Moderator

Kristin is a third year undergraduate at McGill University in Physiology and Mathematics. She has been part of the Montréal steering committee for several years and is passionate about improving the presence of women in the finance industry. In her free time, Kristin is an avid equestrian. 

Joany Pagé

Vice President, Equity Products, Global Markets at BMO Capital Markets

Joany Pagé is a VP on the cash equities trading desk at BMO Capital Markets. She joined BMO over two years ago, prior to which she was a portfolio manager at a buyside firm in Montreal. She earned a Bcomm in Finance from Concordia’s JMSB and is a CFA Charterholder.

Sophie Noël

Director, Investments: Private Debt, Industrial Alliance Investment Management Inc.

Sophie has a diversified career in the financial sector spanning 20 years. She currently serves as Director, Investments: Private Debt. She is responsible for analyzing various private market opportunities, recommending them to the Investment Committee for investment in various iA business lines.

She maintains business contacts with managers, institutions and brokers to create a network of opportunities. She is also responsible for the Structured Finance Leasing Program.
