WCM Awards Ceremony 2019 | Recognizing Exemplary Leadership in Canadian Finance

TORONTO | December 2, 2019 - On November 28th, finance professionals gathered for an industry wide celebration at the 12th Annual WCM Awards Ceremony, recognizing the exemplary leadership and contributions of individuals and firms working towards gender equality in Canadian capital markets. 

The WCM Awards provide the industry with the opportunity to celebrate the great work being done toward a more diverse and inclusive capital markets, while honouring individuals and firms who are taking significant steps to drive change in Canadian finance. The ceremony sets an industry wide stage for partner firms to publicly demonstrate this commitment and aims to empower others to join the movement in building gender diverse and inclusive workplaces. 

WCM, our award recipients, and our partners share an inspiring vision for the future: a future of better ideas, stronger teams, improved businesses and new levels of prosperity. 

This year, WCM recognized seven award recipients across two different categories: 

The WCM Rising Star Award honours high-performing female professionals whose leadership, advocacy and social responsibility have made a unique contribution to the capital markets industry:

  • Brittany Clarke – Director, Equity Capital Markets, CIBC Capital Markets
  • Cilise Connell – Vice President, Strategy and Transformation, RBC Capital Markets
  • Jennifer Glista – Managing Director, Equity Derivatives, Scotiabank, Global Banking and Markets
  • Grace Potter – Director, Global Project and Structured Finance, BMO Capital Markets
  • Melissa Tan – Vice President, Equity Capital Markets, National Bank Financial

The WCM Outstanding Volunteer Award recognizes two volunteers who have surpassed all expectations and demonstrated impressive leadership and initiative as they champion the WCM mission of greater gender diversity:

  • Lindsay Brent – Vice President, Research Product Manager, RBC Capital Markets
  • Carmen Firmani – Derivatives Trader, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation
