Manijeh Colabella

Senior Governance Consultant, Watson Advisors

Manijeh is a senior governance consultant and lawyer at WATSON Advisors Inc. where she helps boards of directors and their committees through governance reviews, board and director evaluations, and policy manual development. Manijeh also advises boards with respect to governance structures, frameworks and capacity assessments and is a facilitator in WATSON’s Governance Academy delivering governance education programs to both individual directors and boards.

Manijeh has over 25 years of experience in governance and law working with private and public companies, regulatory bodies, not-for-profit organizations, member-based organizations, and Crown and public sector organizations. With extensive experience as a director, corporate secretary and general counsel and a deep knowledge of emerging governance issues, including environmental, social and governance (ESG) and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, Manijeh provides thoughtful insight and expertise to boards and management teams that are practical, effective and enhance their organization’s success. She is also is a seasoned tax and corporate law specialist, with extensive experience advising public, private and family enterprises of varying size and complexity with respect to governance, business succession and continuity.

Prior to joining WATSON, Manijeh served as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of Calgary-based Alaris Royalty Corp., a TSX-listed equity capital provider to private companies across North America. At Alaris, Manijeh was an instrumental member of the senior executive team, a director on its subsidiary operating boards, and a key advisor to the board with respect to corporate governance and strategic objectives. She also practiced for a number of years as a tax and corporate lawyer at both a large, full-service law firm and a boutique tax and estate planning firm in Calgary where she advised businesses and their owners.

Manijeh holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Concentration) from the University of Calgary. She also has her ICD.D certification through the Institute of Corporate Directors as well as her TEP (Trusts and Estates Practitioner) designation through the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners. She is a member of the law societies of British Columbia and Alberta


Allison Stinson

Managing Director & Head, Real Estate, Canadian Corporate Banking, Scotiabank

As Managing Director & Head, Real Estate, Canadian Corporate Banking, Allison leads the Real Estate Corporate Banking team which is responsible for delivering financing solutions for Canadian REITs and pension funds.

 Allison has extensive experience underwriting, arranging and syndicating senior debt transactions as well as  construction finance. Allison joined Scotiabank in 2012 and has held various roles in Corporate Banking and Global Risk Management. 

Anna Castro

Managing Director & Senior Portfolio Manager, TD Asset Management

Anna Castro is Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager at TD Asset Management's Asset Allocation & Derivatives team. She leads the Multi-Asset Portfolio Management team responsible for the global strategic, tactical and absolute return asset allocation strategies for TDAM's managed solutions. She has expertise in global equities, fixed income, derivatives and alternatives. She is also a member of the TD Wealth Investment Policy Committee. Anna has an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and has a BSc in Management Engineering from Ateneo de Manila University. She is a CFA charterholder.

Caroline Chan

VP, Portfolio Manager, Mackenzie Investments

Caroline Chan, is a VP, Portfolio Manager on the Mackenzie Fixed Income Team. Caroline primarily focusses on day-to-day management of Canadian investment grade portfolios.  Caroline has worked in the finance industry on both the sell-side and buy-side for over 20 years: at Merrill Lynch as a structurer on the credit and equity derivatives desks in London and Hong Kong, at ANZ Bank as a structurer and credit trader in Hong Kong and at Wellington Management Company as a fixed income trader in Hong Kong.  She started her career as a management consultant with Deloitte in Toronto. 

Caroline has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and a MBA degree from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  She is also a CFA charterholder.

Lucy Edwards

Senior Manager, Business Development Real Estate Financing: BC, Laurentian Bank of Canada

Lucy has worked in the financial industry for over 20 years and has worked in various roles in institutional real estate debt, real estate equity, renewable resources and public equities, including the establishment of inaugural strategies for investments in global real estate, timber and farmland.

She is recognized for superior skills in strategic communications and known to cultivate and support trusted relationships with client and stakeholders.  She has a reputation for originating and implementing strategic initiatives that drive corporate goals and create value and is recognized as a role model, sponsor and mentor, driving diversity and inclusion within the industry.

Nancy Bertrand

Managing Director, Private Banker, & Senior Principal, Citi Private Bank

Nancy joined Citi Private Bank in 2006 and has over 20 years of capital markets experience. She advises ultra high net-worth families, foundations and single family offices on wealth preservation and creation, with a particular focus on alternative and international investments. 

Previously, Nancy practiced U.S. securities law at the global law firm, Shearman & Sterling LLP specializing in cross-border corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions.  Nancy sits on the board of the Golf Association of Ontario. She is a Past President of the  Toronto CFA Society and the former Chair of the Governance and Nominations Committee. She was a member of the CFA Institute's Capital Markets Policy Committee and a member of CFA Institute's Global Corporate Governance Task Force. She received her Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2002.  Nancy has also previously sat on the cabinet of the Royal Ontario Museum’s Young Patrons’ Circle.  

Nancy graduated with an Honours in Business Administration (Dean's List)  from the Richard Ivey School of Business of the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Laws (great distinction) from McGill University.  She has been called to the Bars of the State of New York, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Province of Ontario.  

Nancy speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and French. She is married and raising a teenage daughter.
