Alexa Wu

Investment Banking Analyst, Scotia Capital Inc.

Alexa is an analyst in Scotiabank’s Metals and Mining Investment Banking group. Prior to her role with Scotiabank, she was a teaching assistant for UBC’s Business Communications course and was on the management team for WestPeak Research Association, a student-led capital markets group at UBC. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a specialization in Finance in 2019.

Natalie Zhang

Canadian Equity Analyst, Vancity Investment Management Ltd.

Natalie is a Canadian Equity Analyst at Vancity Investment Management, responsible for Canadian equity financial analysis within VCIM’s socially responsible investment mandates. Prior to joining Vancity, she gained exposure to oil & gas through an accounting internship and sell-side equity research with a global investment bank. Natalie holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from UBC Sauder School of Business and is a CFA Charterholder.

Chelsea Stanimir

Associate at Lyra Growth Partners

Chelsea is an Associate at Lyra Growth Partners where she is involved in all aspects of the investment process including sourcing, evaluating, executing and monitoring investments. Chelsea joined Lyra from CIBC with over five years of capital markets experience. She most recently worked as an investment banking Associate, advising on a variety of transactions including mergers and acquisitions as well as debt and equity financings. Prior to investment banking, Chelsea worked in sales and trading with CIBC’s equity derivatives group where she supported institutional clients with their listed and OTC derivative needs. Chelsea is a CFA Charterholder and holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University.

Tony Rautava

Investment Associate, PE/VC at PenderFund Capital Management Ltd.

Tony Rautava works with the Pender investment team with responsibilities for the ongoing management of venture capital investments. He has worked with investment funds since 2003 in the areas of operations, investment management and financial reporting. He is also experienced with compliance and continuous disclosure obligations, having served as the corporate secretary of a TSX-listed reporting issuer. Current portfolio board positions include Inetco Systems, Methylation Sciences, one45 Software, Redlen Technologies, Teradici and Vitrium Technologies. He is active in the technology and venture capital community in Vancouver, currently serving as a director of the Vancouver Entrepreneurs Forum (VEF).


Brandon Newell

UniConnect Co-Chair at WCM (Vancouver) and Executive Director, Financial Solutions, Capital Markets Trading at CIBC World Markets

Brandon Newell is an Executive Director of Financial Solutions within the Global Markets segment at CIBC Capital Markets where he is responsible for the fixed income cash, credit, and derivatives business in Vancouver, managing institutional relationships with a focus on Bank Treasuries, Mortgage Originators, Insurance Companies, Hedge Funds, Pension Funds, and other Real and Alternative Asset Managers. Brandon began his career on the sell side at CIBC in June 2012 after concluding a one-year contract at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.
Brandon is active in several community support initiatives at CIBC, including United Way, Movember, Miracle Day, and the CIBC Annual Squash Tournament for Run for the Cure, which he helped originate.
Brandon holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a concentration in Finance from Saint Mary’s University and is a CFA Charterholder.
