WCM BC Steering Committee Presents: ESG Integrations in Investment Decisions
Environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues are top of mind for the investment community. They represent permanent shifts in what is considered important, strategic, and sustainable from a long-term value perspective in the investment community. A panel of senior leaders will discuss their unique experiences and perspectives in integrating ESG considerations into the fabric of their investment decisions, and the link to performance. Participants will have the opportunity to hear insights from and network with, some of the most senior leaders in this space.

Salman is Co-Chief Investment Officer with Steadyhand. He selects and monitors Steadyhand's fund managers, manages the firm’s Builders Fund and helps lead the firm. Salman is a CFA charterholder and currently serves as a Director on the CFA Society Vancouver board. Salman started his career in Toronto at Mercer Investment Consulting. In 2011, he moved to Morningstar Canada, where he held the role Associate Director of Active Research before joining Steadyhand in early 2015.
Lisa Meger joined Leith Wheeler in December 2008 as an Associate, after graduating from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (Finance). Lisa has spent her career at Leith Wheeler working with a variety of Institutional clients, communicating investment strategy, and advising on investment policies and asset allocation.
Lisa is also actively involved in the firm’s responsible investing efforts. She is an ESG Specialist, working closely with Leith Wheeler’s investment teams to manage our overall strategy and communication of responsible investing activities.
Lisa holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. She is a volunteer with the CFA Society of Vancouver on the University Outreach Committee, helping to bring awareness of the designation to university students.
Manijeh is a senior governance consultant and lawyer at WATSON Advisors Inc. where she helps boards of directors and their committees through governance reviews, board and director evaluations, and policy manual development. Manijeh also advises boards with respect to governance structures, frameworks and capacity assessments and is a facilitator in WATSON’s Governance Academy delivering governance education programs to both individual directors and boards. Manijeh has over 25 years of experience in governance and law working with private and public companies, regulatory bodies, not-for-profit organizations, member-based organizations, and Crown and public sector organizations.
As a former Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of a TSX-listed equity capital provider to private companies across North America, Manijeh has a passion and unique expertise for navigating private companies through transition and growth. With extensive experience as a director, corporate secretary and general counsel and a deep knowledge of emerging governance issues, including environmental, social and governance (ESG) and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, Manijeh provides thoughtful insight and expertise to boards and management teams that are practical, effective and enhance their organization’s success. She is also a seasoned tax and corporate law specialist, with extensive experience advising public, private and family enterprises of varying size and complexity with respect to governance, business succession and continuity.
Manijeh holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Concentration) and is a member of the law societies of British Columbia and Alberta. She also has her ICD.D certification through the Institute of Corporate Directors as well as her TEP (Trusts and Estates Practitioner) designation through the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners. She is past co-chair and current volunteer with the Vancouver steering committee of WCM and sits on the boards of White Rock Museum and Archives and the VSO School of Music.
Morrigan works as an ESG Analyst at Vancity investment Management to identify risks and opportunities via research, analysis, and engagement. She works with her team to push the envelope on ESG disclosure and practices in a wide variety of industries. Prior to joining VCIM she worked as a research analyst at a climate think tank. There she focused on the sustainable finance, nature-based solutions, and women in the energy transition files. She holds a degree in Economics from the University of Alberta where she specialized in environmental economics and the economics of inequality. When not working she can be found walking her dog Frankie, hiking, climbing or kayaking.
