WCM Alberta and CFA Calgary Present: Crafting your Career: Industry Panel & Networking

Join us for an informative and exciting live event, during which students, new grads and young professionals will learn from and network with professional women in varying roles across the finance industry. 

Speakers will share their education and career journey, plans and goals for the future, and offer advice to attendees who aspire to follow a similar career path. Guests are also invited to participate in a Q&A session with the panelists, during which they are encouraged to ask any additional questions they may have regarding careers in finance.

This event is free to WCM & CFA members, and will be held in-person at CFA Society Calgary. Ticket purchase includes a complimentary 1-year WCM Student Membership ($25.00 value).

Additional details:

A public parking garage located directly to the west of the building (accessible from 6th Ave). Entrance doors into the building exist from both the 6th Ave and 7th Street. Upon arrival, please proceed to the elevators; office is located on the 17th floor. The event will be hosted in CFA's Training Room. Upon entering our office, the Training Room is located to the left, just past the admin desk.

Daniell Hart

Senior Advisor, Investment Review | Enbridge Inc.

Daniell is currently a Senior Advisor Investment Review at Enbridge Inc. She provides financial and risk analysis support for the evaluation of domestic and foreign projects, including organic projects, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.

Prior to joining Enbridge, Daniell worked for several years as an investment banker covering natural resources clients out of London and Calgary. 

Daniell holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Calgary.

Leah Johnston, CFA

Associate, Foreign Exchange and Interest Rate Derivatives: Global Markets | CIBC Capital Markets

Leah is currently a Global Markets Associate at CIBC Capital Markets, with primary focus on Interest Rate Derivatives and Foreign Exchange.  Prior to joining CIBC, Leah was an Investment Portfolio Manager and Team Lead at the City of Calgary, and held several positions at Suncor Energy within Treasury, Commercial Projects, and Sales and Trading.  Leah was previously a Director on the CFA Society Calgary Board of Directors, and held a position on the Member Education Committee.

Leah holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance from McGill University and has been a CFA charterholder since 2015.

Madeline (Maddie) Quinlan, CFA, MSc

Director & Co-founder |Salient Behavioural Consultants

Madeline (Maddie) Quinlan is director & founder of Salient Behavioural Consultants, an international behavioural science consultancy, and is the Head of Membership for the Global Association of Applied Behavioural Scientists. Her greatest passion is bridging the gap between academic insight and the implementation of impactful and sustainable behavioural solutions for business, policy, and design challenges. She is a qualified behavioural scientist and finance expert with expertise spanning private, public, and not-for-profit organizations, with a broad range of behavioural work in areas such as finance, communication, health, and risk management.

Maddie has years of in-depth industry experience including the fintech and energy sectors via Shareworks by Morgan Stanley, a pioneering fintech entrant in the options management sector
and ICE NGX, an innovative clearinghouse for commodities trading. She has been featured internationally in publications, podcasts, and workshops to build capacity and awareness in behavioural science. She holds a Master of Behavioural Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science. In addition, she holds her CFA Charter, and degrees in both Finance (B.Comm) and Psychology (B.A.). Her thesis investigated the impact of mindfulness meditation on financial decision-making.

In a rapidly changing world, Maddie believes in relentless betterment and radical authenticity. She is also a writer, podcast host, and yoga teacher.

Nan Mok

Manager, Business Planning: Conventional Pipelines Business Unit | Pembina Pipeline Corporation

Nan Mok is the Manager, Business Planning of the Conventional Pipelines Business Unit at Pembina Pipeline Corporation. Nan has oversight over commercial economic analysis, long-range planning and budgeting, tolling strategy, and contracts management. At Pembina, Nan has also worked in the New Ventures Business Unit progressing various energy transition opportunities and in the Transmission Pipelines Business Unit as Supervisor, Business Planning.

Prior to joining Pembina, Nan had over 8 years of experience in finance and business development roles for upstream oil and gas companies in Calgary. Nan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia.  

Noor Jafri

Associate, Equity Research | BMO Capital Markets

Noor Jafri has several years of experience in the energy industry and capital markets. She is currently an Equity Research Associate at BMO Capital markets covering small-mid cap energy companies. Prior to equity research, she was a Data Analyst on the midstream side of the business and a Geologist focusing on oil sands. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Calgary and has passed Level 1 of the CFA Program.

Sara Duklas

Analyst, Energy, Infrastructure, and Transition, Global Investment Banking | CIBC Capital Markets

Sara is currently an Investment Banking Analyst at CIBC Capital Markets with the Energy, Infrastructure, and Transition Group. Prior to joining CIBC in August 2021, Sara completed her Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance from McGill University. Throughout her degree, Sara competed on behalf of her school in international case competitions and held an executive role in student government.

In addition to her extracurricular activities, Sara completed internships in global markets, private equity, and investment banking with BMO Capital Markets, PSP Investments, and CIBC Capital Markets, respectively.
