Cathy Steiner
Principal, Healthcare Practice Lead
Cathy has over 20 years' experience as investment banker and strategic advisor working with many public and private healthcare clients advising on capital raising and M&A mandates. Previously, Cathy served as CFO for growth companies through capital raising and M&A transactions.
Cathy was also Managing Director for Nucleus GC, a boutique healthcare advisory firm; and also previously led Healthcare Investment Banking for CIBC World Markets and Yorkton Securities.
Cathy holds a MSc in Immunology (McMaster University), MBA (Schulich School of Business at York University) and CPA,CA designation.

Jim Osler
Principal
Jim has more than 25 years experience as an advisor in both public and private markets, in domestic and cross border transactions across diversified industries.He was one of the initial partners at Genuity Capital Markets, and subsequently was Head of Canadian Mergers and Acquisitions at Canaccord Genuity.
Previously, Jim was Managing Director at CIBC World Markets in the M&A and corporate finance groups.
Jim holds a B.A. Honours (Queen’s) and an MBA (Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto). His designations include both a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Katie Balson
Vice President
Katie, a VP of Origin’s new Chicago office, has over 15 years experience in middle market investment banking. Prior to joining Origin, Katie worked at E&Y Corporate Finance, where she advised numerous industrial products companies serving a range of end markets.
Katie holds a Bachelors from Johns Hopkins University and a Masters of Management from Northwestern University.
Rob Penteliuk
Principal, Financial Services, Real Estate
Rob has over 20 years of investment banking experience at both bank-owned and independent Canadian investment dealers. Rob has extensive experience in managing financings and M&A transactions.
Prior to his role as Principal with Origin, Rob was Head of Diversified Industries at Cormark Securities, Principal at Genuity Capital Markets, and Managing Director at CIBC World Markets.
Rob holds an Honours BBA from Wilfrid Laurier University and his designations include Chartered Financial Analyst.
Quinn Robinson
Investment Banking Analyst
Quinn joined Origin as an Investment Banking Analyst in October 2020. Quinn’s M&A experience includes sale and capital raising mandates spanning various agriculture and technology sectors.
Prior to Origin, Quinn completed co-op roles at OMERS in the Corporate Finance group and Manulife Financial in the Investment Operations and Finance division.
Quinn graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (Lazaridis School of Business & Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University).

Karen Fisman
Director, Business Development
Karen leads Origin’s business development initiatives, including sponsor coverage and outbound deal origination, and has oversight of Origin’s publications.
Previously, Karen held the position of Director of Communications at FirePower Capital, leading and executing the firm’s branding and content initiatives, as well as building relationships in the Canadian mid-market.
Karen has experience in M&A, corporate banking, production financing, institutional equities analysis, and children’s book writing. Karen holds an MBA (Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto) and a Bachelor of Laws (University of Toronto).

Aaron Kadey
Investment Banking Associate
Aaron is an Investment Banking Associate at Origin who specializes in buy and sell-side M&A, recapitalizations, and capital sourcing.
Prior to his role at Origin, Aaron worked as a Senior Associate at KPMG in the Financial Due Diligence, Deal Advisory group, and an accountant at EY.
Aaron received an Honours Business Administration Degree in 2017 (Ivey School of Business at Western University), and his Chartered Professional Accountants Designation in 2020.
