EFFECTING CHANGE: Having the courage to speak up in the financial industry

Wednesday, October 19th 2022
5:15 PM to 9:00 PM

CFA Montréal and WCM invite you to join us for an inspiring event featuring two strong and dedicated professionals who truly believe in the power of using one's own voice to advocate for change.

Our dinner conference will feature panelists Desiree Fixler, a finance professional and activist recognized for the changes she has initiated in the practice of ESG investing and sustainable management, and Sonya Dreizler, speaker, author and co-founder of the Choir platform, which aims to amplify the voices of minority groups in sectors where they have been historically under-represented. Both panelists will speak about their own experiences and career journey, focusing on the ways they have questioned the status quo and initiated a movement for change.

In addition to illustrating the progress toward greater equity and inclusion in recent years and shedding light on the prevalent culture which continues to exist in the financial sector today, the panelists will also speak of the courage required to stand up against discriminatory practises and advocate for equity. Furthermore, they will touch on the consequences, reactions and fallout their brave actions have produced, not only in terms of  their own careers, but also within the larger financial industry as a whole.

Join us to learn about the challenges and rewards associated with speaking out to denounce exclusionary practises, the importance of representation, and to gain an understanding of the current characteristics of the financial services environment in terms of sustainable management, diversity and inclusion.
