Become a student mentor or mentee!

An unparalleled mentorship program for bright and enthusiastic female university students to mentor driven 12th grade high school students. Pay it forward, share your experiences, and help to cultivate the next generation of female talent. 

The WCM Student Buddy Program provides female high school mentees with a female university student mentor who will help them explore career and education options as well as prepare for post-secondary studies.  The program will run from January-March 2018.

How The Program Works

Selected High School Students are matched with a female University student mentor who will guide them through the program sessions covering a series of relevant topics including preparing for university, learning about the capital markets industry and developing skills for success. Students will participate in the program through 4 bi-weekly telephone sessions as described below. 

Important Dates:

Wednesday November 1st, 2017 - Applications open for Mentor & Mentees
Monday December 11th, 2017 - Applications due for Mentor & Mentees
December, 2017 - Mentor & Mentees are notified of pairings
Saturday, January 13, 2018 - Kick Off Event

Criteria for Becoming a Mentor
Criteria for Becoming a Mentee
  • Enrollment in a commerce program (3rd or 4th year) at an accredited university 

  • Demonstrated leadership ability and keen interest in giving back to the community 

  • Outstanding academic record and achievements in extracurricular activities 

  • Commitment to being available for bi-weekly meetings 

  • Prior attendance at a minimum of 1 UniConnect event or prior internship in capital markets 

  • Successful applicants will be required to undergo a background check financed by WCM

  • Current Grade 12 students attending a secondary school in the GTA
  • Keen interest in pursuing a university degree in business and curious about the capital markets
  • Strong academic record and actively engaged in extracurricular activities
  • Commitment to being available for a bi-weekly meetings
