Reporting to the Managing Director, Sustainable Investing, the Senior Principal, Sustainable Investing will play a key role in the implementation and ongoing evolution of the HOOPP Sustainable Investing program. In this role, you will lead initiatives and act as a subject matter expert with teams across the Investment Management (IM) division, as well as with partners across the organization. You will bring a strong foundation of sustainable investing experience and a passion to contribute to the continued advancement of Sustainable Investing at HOOPP.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert in advising asset class teams on leading sustainable investing practices and help foster ESG innovation across the organization
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of HOOPP’s sustainable investing approach and strategy
  • Lead key work streams of our investment climate change strategy and net zero portfolio plan
  • Design and build new sustainable investing frameworks and guidelines, on topics such as portfolio monitoring, controversial investments, and human rights
  • Lead research, analysis, and the development of thought leadership pieces on ESG factors related to new investment strategies, emerging risks, and macro trends
  • Play a leadership role as part of a small team, acting as a mentor for junior team members
  • Support board and executive-level deliverables, presentations, and reporting
  • Liaise with internal partners on cross-departmental projects
  • Represent HOOPP at various external events, initiatives, and committees

  • Leading edge understanding of the sustainable investing landscape and emerging ESG concepts

Required Skill / Experience

  • 10+ years professional experience in sustainable investing or relevant field
  • Experience in equity research, asset allocation, portfolio management considered a strong asset
  • Advanced degree(s) in Business, Finance, Engineering, Environmental Science, or other relevant area preferred
  • Additional professional designations, such as a CFA, considered an asset
