The opportunity
September 2023 - December 2023
The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of research and development activities that support the group in understanding the macro and micro risks involved in private equity investments. The student will gain exposure to a wide range of deals across geographies, sectors, and sizes. This individual will help shape and define a risk agenda that impacts the way investment risk is modeled, monitored, and reported for over $60 billion of investments.
Who you’ll work with
The successful candidate will mainly be interacting within a small team of four – an analyst, an associate, a directo, and a managing director. There will be many opportunities to collaborate with teammates from the Quantitative Risk Modelling team and the Responsible Investing team.
What you’ll do
- Support ad hoc market and sector research projects, provide company specific deep dives and trending analysis
- Provide just in time market news update to the broader risk team
- Assist in selective reporting for portfolio companies from Private Capital, Infrastructure, Natural Resources, and Teachers’ Venture Growth groups
- Support Power BI reporting tools
- Provide support for team to brief the Chief Risk Officer on large private deals pending approval
- Contribute to research initiatives supporting the private asset risk evaluation process

Required Skill / Experience
- An understanding of valuation for a broad range of private market instruments
- An understanding of fundamental investment analysis
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills and in-depth, innovative, critical analysis
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written), strong interpersonal skills
- Expert proficiency in MS Office applications (with an emphasis on Excel)
- Ability to work independently as well as to perform effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Must be enrolled in 3rd / 4th year or related Master’s program
- You must be enrolled in a co-op program or returning back to your studies after the work term is completed
