Position Description
Full Time, Contract (18 months)
Location: Calgary, AB or Toronto, ON
The Opportunity
The Institutional Portfolio Management team is looking for an experienced Client Service Associate who will be responsible for the delivery of superior and meticulous client service. They will work closely with one or more Institutional Portfolio Managers (IPMs) to manage client accounts, problem-solve, and provide back-up and training all whilst demonstrating a commitment to our core values: integrity, excellence, putting our clients’ interests first, and thinking long-term.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work closely with one or more IPMs to build and maintain excellent client relationships
- Manage administrative account activities, such as: account onboarding, trade preparation, verification, cash management, account reconciliation, document management, reporting
- Investigate and resolve issues, complaints, and requests from clients, custodians and/or advisors
- Prepare and verify accuracy of mutual fund trade orders
- Prepare, review and distribute monthly and quarterly reporting to clients
- Prepare presentation materials for portfolio reviews and new business presentations
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex queries (internal and external); anticipate and avoid potential issues
- Participate in projects at analysis and UAT stages as a subject matter expert
- Help improve and streamline the service model and operational procedures
- Provide back-up to team as required, including workflow, filling in for a colleague in their absence, and training

Required Skill / Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in a related investment management/financial services role; knowledge of trade lifecycle, securities, and associated attributes is required
- University degree
- Successful completion of the CFA Investment Foundations or Canadian Securities Course is desirable
- Experience with U.S. institutional clients and fund structures is considered a valuable asset
- Experience with portfolio accounting and trade order management systems (Simcorp Dimension)
- Solid knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, as well as proficiency with web-based applications
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills; thrives in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Sound operational and compliance judgment; excellent awareness of risk environment
- Able to prioritize; experience managing expectations and delivery of services
