As an Investment Analyst, you will have a key role in analyzing potential investment opportunities, executing transactions and working with existing portfolio companies to craft strategy and implement value-enhancing initiatives.

Who you’ll work with

You will be joining our Toronto office, where you will work in a dynamic team-based environment, directly supporting senior team members across all sectors and geographic regions. You will have the chance to define and differentiate yourself as an investor and build strategic relationships within the global market.

Infrastructure and Natural Resources ("INR") consists of a team of highly specialized investment professionals, with offices in Toronto, London, Mumbai and Singapore, and an additional presence in Santiago, Chile. Currently, INR leads a geographically diverse portfolio with assets in North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Our Infrastructure mandate focuses on high-quality assets that provide critical services to society with defensive investment characteristics and low return volatility. This includes investing in sectors such as renewable energy, electric and water utilities, airports, container terminals, and toll roads.

The Natural Resources mandate targets direct exposure to commodities in the oil and gas, mining, agriculture, timberland, aquaculture, and other resource-based sectors to provide cash flow, inflation protection and diversification.

What you’ll do

  • Build and employ financial modeling tools to analyze investment opportunities;

  • Assist in the due diligence process and incorporate the findings into a financial model;

  • Identify key value drivers and financial risks and perform related sensitivity and scenario analysis;

  • Work closely with external advisors, consultants and partners to assess risks and submit bids under tight timelines;

  • Prepare presentations, reports, and investment recommendations to senior management and, where applicable, the Board of OTPP;

  • Review and analyze financial reports, budgets, board books and other information prepared by management of our portfolio companies;

  • Work with portfolio company management to maintain financial models that are used to analyze strategic issues and value the company;

  • Support internal strategic project initiatives, and;

  • Support the preparation of internal annual valuations.

Required Skill / Experience

What you’ll need

  • Up to 1 year experience, preferably in investment banking, principal investing or corporate development within an operating business
  • Bachelor’s degree required, with the pursuit of a CFA designation considered a plus
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence others and comfort presenting to senior audiences
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills and ability to perform in-depth analysis
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities while remaining detail-oriented
  • A proactive attitude and drive toward action and results
  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Desire to travel internationally
