Position Description

What we are looking for:

Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Treasury and Investor Relations, the incumbent will be taking on a key role within the organization in helping to develop and implement the investor narrative and support on capital markets and broader stakeholder communication.

Your responsibilities:

  • Work closely with senior management to develop and implement the firm's external communication plan with a view to maintaining and enhancing its reputation and standing;
  • Understand and communicate the firm's strategy, business model, financial performance and value creation process for shareholders and external stakeholders;
  • Assist and lead the development and execution of strategic developments relating to external stakeholders including relationship with rating agencies;
  • Liaise and cooperate with treasury team on all aspects relating to external stakeholder communication;
  • Lead the tracking, collecting, and analyzing of analyst estimates and advise senior management on the perceptions and expectations of various stakeholders, including shareholders and participants in stock markets;
  • Manage production of the annual report, annual shareholders meeting and other events;
  • Draft, distribute and follow up on all statutory documents and press releases;
  • Develop and implement the investor relations communication plan with a view to optimize the firm's enterprise value and investor engagement;
  • Establish and maintain links with financial analysts to improve the quantity and quality of research coverage, respond to questions, requests and information gathering;
  • Develop presentations to investors, annual/quarterly reports, management reports and other financial communication tools, and oversee the publication process;
  • Write investor-focused news releases, executive scripts and messaging documents;
  • Plan and organize events (quarterly conference calls, webcasts and other events for shareholders and investors), plan and prepare briefing documents for bank, industry or investor conferences, roadshows, and other investor-focused events; attend and participate in these events;
  • Prepare quarterly information reports for internal partners (competitive intelligence, assessments of investor relations activities, industry issues, documentation for the Board of Directors, etc.);
  • Monitor and distribute research on peer groups, focusing on changes involving the industry/competitors, news flows, quarterly conference calls on business results and analyst days, and communicate salient points to management;
  • Oversee the Finance graduate rotational program;
  • Support in execution of special projects calling on candidate’s financial skills.

Required Skill / Experience

Must have requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, communications, or other related disciplines. MBA and/or CFA an asset;
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in one or more of following areas: investor relations, finance, asset management, accounting, equity research;
  • Proven analytical skills and experience of valuation, financial modelling techniques used by investors and analysts;
  • Public company experience is required.
  • Experience and comfort interacting with external audiences including investment bankers, investors and analysts;
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and group presentations) in English. French is a strong asset;
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle pressure effectively and manage multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously while maintaining the highest standards of work product and adhering to deadlines;
  • Creative team player with a marked ability to adapt to change;
  • Intellectual curiosity and excellent political skills;
  • Ability to think strategically, to see the big picture and a good business acumen.
