Position Description
What You’ll Be Doing
This is a position within the Performance and Risk Analytics, Total Investment Solutions group. The Senior Manager will lead and oversee the performance analytics team. The performance analytics team is accountable for the daily activities related to performance calculations, attribution, analyses, and related reports that illustrate the firm’s performance returns and risk statistics for portfolios, strategy composites, and benchmarks across CIBC Asset Management (CAM). The Senior Manager will be expected to understand and anticipate the growing needs of the business. As well the Senior Manager will be responsible for proactively making recommendations on industry best practices that increase efficiency and minimize risk to best serve our clients. The Senior Manager will partner and collaborate with teams across CAM including operations, client service, technology, marketing and portfolio management teams. The Senior manager will also work with third-party firms to optimize vendor services and functions.

- Ability to analyze, interpret and communicate performance analyses
- Collaborate with key stakeholders including front office, marketing, and client service to anticipate future business needs related to performance analytics and client reporting
- Drive firm’s data operations and client content automation strategy
- Ensure team’s understanding of departmental procedures and processes via ongoing training and onboarding of new staff members
- Serve as the subject matter expert and escalation point for the teams
- Proactively pursue process improvement initiatives to enhance internal control and create efficiencies
- Provide project management support for firm designated initiatives for which Performance Analytics or Client Reporting are stakeholders
- Stay up to date on GIPS and all regulatory compliance that would impact performance calculations and presentation. Oversee the firm’s annual GIPS verification efforts
- Oversee production and dissemination of all client reporting for the firm
Required Skill / Experience
- 7+ years of progressive experience in performance measurement in the investment management, pension fund or financial services industries.
- People management experience, with demonstrated experience building and managing a team.
- CIPM designation completed or in progress is an asset.
- CFA designation or enrolment in CFA program is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience with GIPS is an asset.
- Advanced skill in building macro-based spreadsheets, coding (Python) and handling large data sets.
- Knowledge in market data services and investment systems such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Eagle Investment Systems
- Technical proficiency in performance reporting and attribution
- Autonomy, adaptability and flexibility are required to deal with a rapidly changing environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including the ability to effectively communicate complicated investment concepts and economic data. Bilingualism is an asset.
- Demonstrated passion for investments and knowledge about global market trends.
