Save the Date for SheBiz Toronto 2018!

SheBiz is an all-day, complimentary business conference for young women in grades 9-11, that exposes participants to a wide range of career opportunities in business and STEM, as well as female role models and business leaders who are enthusiastic about their professions. The objective of SheBiz is to encourage more young women to pursue careers in business and STEM and provide an overview of the myriad of opportunities available to them.

Registration will open on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 12 pm EST.  The event has been offered free of charge every year to all attendees thanks to the generosity of WCM and its sponsors. Space is limited, and as a result, attendance is limited to 15 students and one teacher from each school.

Statistics Canada reports that female high school students receive better high school grades in science, technology, engineering and math than their male peers, but that females are less likely to enroll in those programs in university than their male counterparts. While there are many reasons for women self-selecting out of these career paths, included in these factors are lack of access to female role models as well as the information gap – young women need to be informed of the opportunities available for them. The free day-long event features guest speakers from a variety of industries as well as interactive and engaging activities for the students such as a trading game or case activity. Through this unique forum, the attendees will have access to business leaders, business topics, and exposure to numerous and existing career opportunities available to women in business.
