Why We Need More Women in STEM and How SheBiz Can Help

CFAX Radio| November 22, 2017

CFAX's Mark Brennae and WCM's Katie Squires-Thompson, WCM's Director of Marketing and Western Operations, discuss why we need to amplify efforts to encourage women to pursue STEM careers, and who SheBiz can help with that.

SheBiz is a full-day event focused on encouraging young women to pursue education that will lead them to careers in STEM and a variety of corporate sectors, while introducing them to female role models from these industries. In addition to Toronto and Vancouver, this annual event is now held in Montreal, Calgary and Victoria and serves to provide young women with information regarding the prevalence of the gender wage gap not only in financial services, but also in the broader Canadian economy. Since SheBiz's inception in 2012, it has received overwhelmingly favourable feedback from both students and teachers, including previous SheBiz participants who are keen to share their experiences and insights.
