WCM | The Virtual Hustle
After a brief break, The Hustle is back! Here's what we've been up to:
UniConnect - Last month, WCM hosted an incredible panel that discussed how university students can ace their next capital markets interview. Panelists from across the financial industry provided insight on how students can prepare, what firms are looking for and how students can stand out in the interview process. Thank you to our Toronto co-chairs (Mélanie Dussarrat and Keren Beletsky) for organizing and moderating such a successful event!
Technical Skills Workshops - WCM, in our long standing partnership with The Marquee Group, hosted a two part technical skills course taught by Dave Thomas; Building a Financial Model (of a Company). Leveraging this time to do a deep dive into building their technical skills by designing and creating an interactive financial model of a company that adheres to the highest industry standards, participants demonstrated that they are exactly what the future of finance looks like.
The 2020 Emerging Leaders Recipients were announced during this time as well. Thank you to Susan Richardson and Felix Global for their partnership and supporting our movement to achieve justice and equal outcomes for the next generation.
WCM Research - We surveyed almost 500 capital markets professionals and the majority of respondents are strongly in favour of targets for executive and board roles and amending legislation to support rapid diversification of corporate boards. We submitted an official response in partnership with CAUFP to the Capital Markets Modernization Taskforce on the topic of Corporate Board Diversity.
ILN Diversity Joint Engagement Letter - WCM is pleased to have collaborated with the Investor Leadership Network (ILN) on their engagement letter. An impressive commitment that will yield true progress.
Opportunities - There are many student internships and opportunities at Bank of Canada and PSP Investments - thank you for your great commitment to diversity.
Thrilled to have BCI, Bank of Canada, Felix Global and RPIA renewing their commitment to WCM and diversity!
What's New at WCM - We welcome a new baby to WCM, congratulations to Olga and family. We are also excited to welcome: Nayla Yehia filling in for Olga as Senior Graphic Designer, Odette Hutchings into the role of Director, Professional Development and Partnerships, and Neema Amadala as Director, Marketing and Communications where they will all lead and shape WCM's work to accelerate diversity in finance.
Now that's hustle!
