POSITION DESCRIPTION

Women in Capital Markets (WCM) is seeking a highly organized, proactive and dynamic individual to join us in our mission to accelerate the progress of gender diversity across the financial industry in Canada. This is an opportunity to be part of an engaged team that is united in its vision for gender equality in our workforce, leadership, and economy. Reporting to the CEO, this position is responsible for the leadership, coordination and execution of WCM’s Student programming and volunteer community. In addition the Director is responsible for collaborating on research, writing best practices and sharing their expertise on diversity and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning, running and overseeing WCM’s student programming
  • Identify growth opportunities and assist with idea generation for relevant and innovative future programming that align with WCM’s strategic objectives
  • Ensure current WCM student programming and event themes are relevant, consistent and at the cusp by keeping a pulse on the industry of gender diversity and professional development.
  • Expanding the reach and impact of WCM’s student programming
  • Onboard, train and manage volunteers for the student portfolio
  • Grow and drive satisfaction of WCM’s student membership base
  • Attend all Toronto student events (some minimal travel and work outside standard hours is required)
  • Develop important content for best practices work for driving gender diversity in finance, which should include
  • WCM branded research, and thought leadership that will drive diversity and the WCM brand
  • Collaborate with CEO on annual research, participate in writing of reports and presentations

REQUIRED SKILL / EXPERIENCE

  • Education: bachelor’s degree
  • A demonstrated passion for gender diversity and inclusion
  • Experience setting and running development curriculums & programs
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and/or experience leading a team or committee
  • Strong knowledge of volunteer governance
  • Excellent and demonstrable written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task seamlessly across projects
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated professionalism

Skills considered an asset:

  • Experience designing and launching digital programming and education
  • Experience managing large volunteer teams
  • Previous work experience in capital markets
  • Diversity and inclusion knowledge gained through formal education or employment
  • Experience in event planning
  • Bilingual - French/English
