This study from Rotman’s Institute for Gender and the Economy examines the use of gender quotas for candidate selection in Sweden’s Social Democratic party. In measuring the competence of politicians both before and after quota implementation, the authors conclude that quotas are not at odds with the principles of meritocracy.
